Tributes have been paid to Kris Kristofferson, the award-winning country singer and actor following his death at the age of 88, two day ago. (22nd June 1936 - 28th September 2024).

Dolly Parton wrote, external: "What a great loss. What a great writer. What a great actor. What a great friend."

She finished her post on social media with the words "I will always love you", a nod to one of her most famous songs.

Barbra Streisand said she "knew he was something special" the first time she saw him perform.

Kristofferson and Streisand went on to share top billing in the 1976 remake of the film A Star Is Born.

Back in the day the promotion of Convoy 1978 was all the talk at the time and brought prominence to younger audiences and I got to watch Texas Rising this year and loved it for its history and story and title music by Kris Kristofferson and find it very fitting that a Texan wrote it, as it should be and from him, the man with many talents, delighting millions in film, music and more.
