Katra Masjid is a former caravanserai, mosque and the tomb of Nawab Murshid Quli Khan. Nawab Murshid kuli Khan wanted to have a mosque in the middle of a katra. According to his wishes, a mosque was built in the bazaar. In his old age, Nawab Murshid Quli Khan expressed his desire that his grave should be next to this mosque. He entrusted the construction of the mosque to his trusted craftsman Murad Faras Khan. This Katra mosque was built between 1723-24 AD as per the wishes of the Nawab. After Murshid Quli Khan's death in 1727 AD, he was buried in a small niche under this staircase as per his wish.
