This is a dough recipe that I have played with to replicate the amazing butter crust dough for
deep dish pizzas found at the amazing Lou Malnati's found around Chicago. I think I came pretty
close to getting it right, try it out and let me know what you think in the comments below.
Dough ingredients: this will make enough dough for two 9 inch deep dish pizzas.
2 1/4 Cups all purpose flour
3/4 Cups water (lukewarm)
4 Tablespoons(Tbsp) salted butter
1/2 Teaspoon (Tsp) active dry yeast
1/4 Teaspoon salt
1/4 Teaspoon Sugar
*let this dough rise for 2 hours, then place it in the refrigerator to set up for 24hours for best
results.
sauce ingredients:
1 Can tomatoes (crushed, diced, whatever, just not paste.)
Half of one onion
2 cloves of garlic
1 tsp sweet basil
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp or to taste salt
red pepper flake (to taste)
1 tsp sugar
