Just because you're writing in a popular genre doesn't mean your book will be successful, unless you're deliberately learning how to create an enjoyable reading experience as good as what readers hope and expect from that genre. Most authors fail to do this, which is why genre doesn't really matter, you have to learn how to tell a story first so readers don't get bored or quit reading - that's why you should check out www.writethemagic.com.

choosing keywords, categories and genres is important, it does make a big difference, you should aim for popular genres, but it's only the first step in the package.
