Kyusendo, a limestone cave located in Kuma Village, Kuma District, which was damaged by heavy rain in July 2020, has reopened for the first time in about 1 year and 9 months. Kyusendo Cave, discovered by the Ehime University Academic Exploration Department in 1972, is estimated to have been formed approximately 300 million years ago when a limestone layer on the ocean floor rose up. The total length is approximately 4,800m, making it the longest in Kyushu. Investigations are currently underway, and if the investigation progresses, it may become the longest limestone cave in Japan.
