The culmination of a multiyear project to completely transform the garage of the house I purchased from a dark dungeon-like space to a bright and awesome place to be!

I installed a 5000w heater connected to a Honeywell smart thermostat thanks to the instructions in the video above. I have a full schematic in the video to make wiring a little easier if you're interested.

Also that fun time I (apparently?) put a screw through one of the travelers in my 4 way switch circuit. I had modified an existing 3 way circuit to be a 4 way (with 3 switches) about a year ago. It was working beautifully. At some point during all the drywalling and rerouting of wiring it stopped working. All work stopped, and it was driving me nuts. What did I do, and how do I fix it? It came down to the most basic of troubleshooting... I really didn't know where to start, but I understood the basics of the circuit so I started there. Lets confirm continuity on all 6 legs of the travelers between all the switches. Continuity was good. I was puzzled and basically out of ideas haha. Then I thought (standing there with a multimeter in my hand) hey, wonder if something shorted? I checked each set of travelers against its pair for continuity. First pair good, second pair good, third pair and my multimeter was buzzing. I must have put a screw through both the wires shorting them together - somewhere in the finished wall! DOH! Anyway, it involved a small access hole in the wall (before paint) and I ran some new wire and all was good again. Drywall hole got patched, painted, and only I will know (and you) that it ever happened :)

Total cost of materials was somewhere in the $2500-3500 range. No professionals were involved in any stage of this project haha. Only myself, YouTube, and Google.
