Did you know that the personal lives of Pakistan’s army chiefs have been as fascinating as their military careers? From President Ayub Khan to our current chief, General Asim Munir, the marriages of these military leaders and the roles their wives have played are quite noteworthy. Today’s video will reveal a lot about their families, marriages, and children. Starting with Field Marshal Ayub Khan, he often took his daughter, Nasim Aurangzeb, on official trips instead of his wife. General Musa Khan, a notable figure from Quetta’s Shia Hazara community, married his cousin Khanum Gul Shah in 1927. Their daughter, Azra Musa, married retired Air Marshal Shurbat Ali Changezi. General Yahya Khan, another prominent figure, had two children: a son named Ali Yahya Khan and a daughter named Yasmin Khan. Interestingly, history seldom mentions his wife, Mrs. Yahya Khan, even though Yahya was known for his many mistresses. Despite his colorful personal life, Yahya never remarried. Then, there’s Gul Hassan Khan, who made history as the only army chief who wasn’t a four-star general. He held the position as a lieutenant general and married late in life. His son, Sher Hassan Khan, lived in Vienna, Austria. General Zia-ul-Haq, who became army chief after serving as a captain in the 1950s, married Shafiq Jahan in Lahore. He had two sons—Ejaz-ul-Haq and Dr. Anwar-ul-Haq—and three daughters—Qurat-ul-Ain Zia, Rubina Zia, and Zain Zia. General Pervez Musharraf, our 13th army chief, married Sehba Farid, a well-educated woman from an Urdu-speaking family, in 1968. They have a son, Bilal, and a daughter, Aylia Raza. General Raheel Sharif, another former army chief, has two sons and one daughter with his wife. General Qamar Javed Bajwa, also a former army chief, is married to Ayesha Amjad, and they have two sons, Ali Bajwa and Saad Bajwa. Our current army chief, General Asim Munir, is married to Iram Naqvi, whose family hails from Okara, with roots in Jhang, Punjab.
