An old farmhouse, huge barns and even greater renovation backlog. The 33-year-old Leonard Gehre has bought himself a job: an old farm in Alraft, northern Hesse, with fewer than 200 inhabitants. The man from Bochum wants to move here with his wife and two children. He wants to do the renovation entirely on his own. And time is running out. The farm must at least be habitable until his son starts school.

But the living room is still a crater, the walls in the hallway are damp, and the courtyard project is becoming an ordeal for the marriage.
