US and Canadian fighters scrambled to meet Russian and Chinese bombers near Alasaka.

Two Russian TU-95 Bear and two Chinese H-6 strategic bombers were seen in the Chukchi and Bering seas.

US Air Force F-16s, F-35s and Canadian Air Force F-18s were scrambled to shadow the bombers at close range.

North American Aerospace Defence Command (Norad) said it was the first time Chinese bombers had ''encroached the area'.

The encounter came as Russia and China stepped up it's sabre-rattling against the US.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been trying to provoke America in a bid to stop aid from reaching Ukraine.
