Today's project is using a technique that I have used a few times but it always amazes me with the results. The emboss resist technique allows you to first heat emboss onto your paper and then add colour using Blending Brushes or sponges. Today, I chose the Blending Brushes.
I inked up all of the pieces of cardstock at once that I wanted to heat emboss, after rubbing each piece with my Stamping Buddy, using Versamark. (Both of the Basic White pieces-one using the Leaf Collection background stamp and the other a sentiment for the inside from the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set. Old Olive scrap for the sentiment from Heartfelt Hexagon also). After they were all inked up, I sprinkled generously with White Embossing Powder, flicked off the excess and then applied heat from our Heat Tool. Be sure to move the heat around the image and not hold in one spot or you may burn your project. For the piece of Basic White being used for the insert, I added a bit of colour using my Blending Brush and Old Olive ink around the sentiment. It just kind of softens the look. This can now be adhered to the Old Olive cardbase. Next, I added both Old Olive and Lemon Lime Twist to the Leaf image or the "front" of the card. I'm no plant expert so I guessed at colours and what might be the closest colours. :) I like it! This can now be adhered to the cardbase. I did also take a tissue and wipe away the colour off of the white embossed leaves-a new to me process, but you don't have to. Using a bit of Stampin' Seal on the front of the card where I wanted to place my punched sentiment, I adhered a length of Very Vanilla Baker's Twine from the Bakers Twine Essentials Pack placing in a zigzag pattern. The piece of Old Olive cardstock that I had also heat embossed was now punched using the Hexagon punch, then popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals and placed over the Baker's Twine. Last but not least, some Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added for some interest. I love the look that I was able to get from mixing those colours, and the possibilities are endless to dress it up or tone it down.
