Located on Dharug and Gundungurra Country, the City of Blue Mountains has long recognised the connection between the health of its people and the health of the planet, incorporating both in its Map for Action over 20 years ago.
More recently, Blue Mountains City Council 's Planetary Health Initiative has been collaborating across the Blue Mountains and Lithgow Bioregion to facilitate the systemic change we need to restore the health of our planet. Its Pluriversity is sharing ideas and skills through a wide range of programs run at the Planetary Health Centre in Katoomba, where its Circular Water Demonstration Site is exploring ways to restore the hydrological cycle and better manage water to reduce the risk of extreme weather events turning into disasters.
To challenge the negative impact of much mainstream media it has also created solutions-focused News in every neighbourhood that's helping grow community and build everyone's capacity to cope with future challenges.
