Do you find yourself spending your entire day chasing the mouse on your desk and dealing with that persistent spot behind your shoulder blade? Join us as we unveil effective methods to address these issues.

While we may not be artists, what we want to highlight is the significance of a muscle known as the levator scapulae. This muscle is responsible for lifting the shoulder, and prolonged desk work can cause it to shorten, leading to trigger points and that bothersome spot. Our treatment involves dry needling, specifically targeting the levator, rhomboid major, minor, and other shoulder muscles. In today's focus, we'll delve into dry needling with electrical stimulation to alleviate the spot from the mouse race.

Here's a glimpse of what this treatment looks like: we identify the anatomy, pinpoint trigger points, insert acupuncture needles, and apply stimulation. While not always necessary, in this case, we'll let it stimulate for a designated period. Throughout the process, we remain mindful of other anatomical structures, such as the lungs and nerves in the area.

Another crucial aspect of our treatment is active release, a method that involves breaking up muscle tension. By addressing the entire muscle and joint, we ensure that the tension doesn't accumulate in the armpit, inside the shoulder blade, or the upper areas like the trap and levator.

During active release treatment, we guide individuals through a series of movements to lengthen and break up adhesions in the muscle and fascia, restoring range of motion before proceeding with manipulation.

Our approach extends to the belief that, in conjunction with adjustments, working on muscles attached to bones is crucial. We illustrate this with an example, incorporating a comfortable neck adjustment and a targeted adjustment behind the shoulder blade.

To further enhance the effectiveness of our treatment, we employ Active Release Technique (ART) to increase blood flow and oxygen in the tissue, promoting healing. We then discuss the importance of combining adjustments, muscle work, and rehabilitation exercises to prevent a recurring cycle of issues stemming from desk posture.

If you're experiencing discomfort from prolonged desk work or mouse-related activities, seeking care and making lifestyle adjustments can significantly improve your well-being. Our comprehensive approach encompasses various techniques to address both the immediate symptoms and the underlying causes, ensuring a holistic and effective solution.
