So this is the first video I've done in a while. In the midst of the flurry of new Boox devices coming out faster than hotcakes, this device deserved alot more mention than it has received thus far, which is why i thought doing a video would help people see the potential in having an ultra portable e ink device as part of their note taking arsenal. The thing about E Ink Tablets is that in spite of its beautiful screen and real estate for writing, whenever I am outside travelling, I still use my phone because the e ink tablet is tucked into my bag.
But with the Palma, because it is so easy put into your pocket, you can literally use it anywhere you go and i use it as much as my phone now. Its interesting because firstly i find myself on social media less because i'm on the Palma more. So what i most commonly use the Palma for is to do my quiet time as i am on the go or to type down in Obsidian a list of things i need to accomplish for the day. Because Obsidian is so to easy to use, and you can create indentations, and check boxes so easily, that in turn increases the usage of the Palma.
What is interesting to note about the Palma is that it is 6gb ram. which is faster than the boox tab ultra C. i tried running autocad app on it and it actually opened a big dwg. file faster than the boox tab ultra C as well. I could even draw a few boxes without much ease.
I was a little curious as to why dosn't this phone support the Boox Pens as well. As this dosn't have the note taking capabilities and app that its larger E ink tablets have. Probably cost related.
But so far the Boox Palma has been a faithful companion device to my mobile phone. It won't replace a phone because a mobile phone has colour and refresh rates still make the mobile phone irreplacable by an e ink device. Which is probably why it makes sense that the Palma dosn't have a sim card slot as users would more likely to carry their phone and the Palma together around with them rather than to use an e ink phone.
With the Palma you can enjoy all the benefits of a smaller form factor, with increased power, to read your pdf files, email, teams. Having a handy note taker whenever you need to jot something down. This is a power mini notepad on steroids.
