Achankovil is a village in Pathanapuram taluk of Kollam district . Achankovil lies in the middle of the Sahya mountain ranges east of Alimuk Chempanaruvi from Punalur town. The famous Shasta temple here is a Hindu pilgrimage site. Rubber plantations and coops can be found in and around the Achenkov area. A forest stream called Pallivasal flows through the middle of the village . There is a vehicular road to the temple.

Achankovil, the center of the hill tribes known as Malampandaras , is in Thenmala Panchayat. The government has set up a few tribal colonies for the settlement of tribals here.
