Beliau adalah putra dari Sunan Ampel, serta cucu dari Syaikh Asmoro Qondi.
Beliau mengajarkan 4 pesan sosial, yaitu:
1. Mènèhana teken marang wong kang wuta (Berilah ilmu supaya orang lain pun menjadi pandai)
2. Mènèhana mangan marang wong kang luwé (Sejahterakanlah kehidupan masyarakat yang miskin)
3. Mènèhana busana marang wong kang wuda (Ajarilah kesusilaan pada orang yang tidak punya malu)
4. Mènèhana ngiyup marang wong kang kodanan (Berikan perlindungan kepada orang yang menderita)
