Today we’re taking a look at the Mountain Everest Mechanical Keyboard. Thanks to Mountain for sending this over for the review. The Everest model that I have here today is an interesting gaming focused Mechanical Keyboard. We’re getting genuine Cherry MX switches with super high endurance on an overall quality keyboard platform. The keys have a nice softer touch and I think the size and spacing of the keys is solid. Both the main keyboard and the included modular num-pad have a nicer looking brush aluminum faceplate and the keyboard is relatively sturdy, not much flex, and it really doesn't weigh too much which I appreciate. The numpad has a few assignable app buttons which is nice for quickly launching stuff like discord, your web browser, custom macros, or almost anything else you need.

The Everest also includes a magnetic wrist rest for wrist support during long gaming sessions and we have this nifty media dock included too. The dock has a few buttons for media control, play, pause, skip forward and back, and it has this dial controlled mini LED screen. You can display stuff like your CPU or GPU usage, you can control the lighting pattern and brightness too. The Everest is quite customizable as far as keyboards that I have worked with go. If you want to use the numpad, you can actually choose to use it on the right or interestingly enough, the left side of the keyboard. The media dock can also be installed on the left or right side of the keyboard as well. In terms of height adjustment, we have included magnetic feet or spacers that can let you raise or lower the keyboard height to a position that is comfortable for you. The Cherry switches of course can be replaced or swapped out and the RGB patterns and colors can be customized with the Base Camp software that you can download from Mountain. The Base Camp software allows for quite a bit of customization in colors, per key lighting, and you can setup and record macros in here too. You can create up to 5 custom profiles for the keyboard in Base Camp and save those directly to the keyboard’s onboard memory which is super handy. I thought the Base Camp software was decent, was easy to use and wasn’t intrusive. As for connecting the Everest, it connects to your PC with a 2 meter long USB 3.0 connection, 3.2 gen 1 I believe.
