Although you can customize the height of the nichrome wire, I would recommend a minimum height of 150mm (6"). This is due to the fact shorter wire lengths will have lower resistance. This may cause your hot wire cutter to draw too much current from the power adapter. For wire lengths above 300mm+ you may want to consider buying a 24V adapter
