In our previous videos, we have discussed different types of gearboxes used for varying the torque. But, have you ever heard of a device that is capable of shifting the vehicle from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive? That is what this video is about.
We have explained what a transfer case is, where it is used, why is it necessary, its construction and working.
A transfer case or transfer box is a device with a set of gears. It transmits power to both the front and rear axles of a 4-wheel drive vehicle. It allows the vehicle to operate under four different transmission modes. The modes are two-wheel drive with low and high torque transmission and four-wheel drive with low and high torque transmission. Watch the video to know how exactly it works.
