(22 Feb 1965) For forty years the familiar red ensign with Canada's coat of arms had been the flag of the nation at places abroad. Now Canada has an official flag to fly at home as well as overseas. At the Hall of Fame, in Canada's Parliament Building in Montreal is the governor, General George Vanier and Madame Vanier with government officials and leading citizens who are watching the ceremony. The new flag is hoisted and a 21 gun salute is fired.
