Contaminated power steering fluid will shorten the life of a power steering pump. Installing a filter in the power steering return hose is a good way to prevent costly damage. In this video an Edelmann Elite re-useable and cleanable filter is installed in a 2011 Honda Accord. It is then removed and checked for contaminants three months later. Anytime a power steering system is opened up air must be bled out afterward.
