本日は宇久島の歴史についてお話しします。約190万年前に誕生し、2万年前から人類が居住していたと言われています。特徴的なお墓の形から朝鮮半島からの人々が居住していたことが伺えます。遣隋使、遣唐使の中継地として栄え、その後の壇ノ浦の戦いや隠れキリシタンなど、逃れたり、隠れたりするには離島は適していたと言えるでしょう。
