Apple gets a lot of flack for their phones looking similar within the past few generations. The truth is most smartphone companies are doing something similar recently. There have become some intentional design choices companies like Google, Samsung, and Nothing Phone have made that make their phones just as recognizable as an iPhone. But with this new ear, does this mean the design innovation of smartphones is dead?

While we also have foldable phones, those aren’t doing anything more than a typical smartphone. So, I don’t think it’s a necessary innovation. Overall, it feels like we have lacked the necessary innovations that we have grown accustomed to in the coming of age for smartphones.

In today’s video, we will discuss these topics and ponder what and when the next significant smartphone innovation will happen. We will also explore the history of necessary innovations that have shaped what smartphones are today.
