Whats up guys? Today we talk about an Optical Center Punch and why I consider it to be one of my Top #5 best layout tools ever when it comes to Sheet metal fabrication amongst many other uses! We will chat about a few different Center punches.. One being a regular old hammer and punch, An Spring Loaded Automatic Center Punch as well as an Optical Center Punch.

These three tools definitely have their place in the world but if your looking for precision when laying out punch marks on scribed lines.. The optical center punch is a very precise and awesome tool in this Metal working industry we are in.

Whether you lay out everything by hand or you use a cad program and print paper templates to make punch marks on.. This Tool will get the job done in every department that requires precision. Some may think its a waste of time and is too slow of a tool so its not for everyone but its still awesome to take a look at!

When it comes to sheet metal fabrication and general layout you have so many amazing tools that make life easy! Over time I will go over all the tools that I really enjoy using for layout work so you can get them in your toolbox also! No matter what Center Punch you are using you can get great results if you just take your time and use a nice symmetrical sharp punch and align your scribed lines. whether you are using a Drill Press, Hand Drill or even a Hydro Punch.. This tool is great and is accurate every time!
