Hello everyone- I’ve gotten to interview a lot of my filmmaking heroes. But this video is a special one. For the first time, IN 25 YEARS, a video interview with Academy-Award nominated filmmaker, MARTIN BREST! Martin Brest is the director behind films and projects such as Scent Of A Woman, Midnight Run, Beverly Hills Cop, Meet Joe Black, Going In Style. To say it was an honour would be a severe understatement, and I’m so honored that Martin allowed me to be his first video interview in 25 years!

When When I first started l interviewing filmmakers, I sent out about a hundred messages a week. I’d get a lot of no’s, I’d get mostly no’s! Haha, but one day, I got the kindest “no” I’ve ever gotten. It was from academy award nominated filmmaker Martin Brest. YES, the same Martin Brest behind films such as Midnight Run, Beverly Hill Cops, Scent Of A Woman, Meet Joe Black, Going In Style. A personal hero of mine, and truly a filmmaking icon. Easily one of the greatest American filmmakers to ever do it.

I woke up to an email from Martin, that was the kindest email I’ve ever received. I won’t share it, but he encouraged me to keep doing interviews, and told me that there is no limit to what ever I want to achieve. It encouraged me to keep doing interviews. Martin mentioned that he hadn’t done any interviews in 20 years, since his last film. So an interview (very understandably) wouldn’t be possible!

I kept in touch with Martin over the months, and I was even talking to him recently, about the recent Joe Russo interview. He told me he was proud of me.

And then he mentioned, that a few weeks before he had broken his media silence, by doing a written interview with Variety. He mentioned that we should do this interview as in his words “he owed me one.”

So here it is, in 20 years, the first video exclusive interview with filmmaker Martin Brest. And it’s with ME! Honoured doesn’t cover it. Getting to chat with Martin has always been a personal dream of mine. I never take for granted how lucky I am to do what I’ve gotten to do, and it’s moments like these that put it into perspective.


Martin is the Academy Award nominated director behind films such Scent Of A Woman, Midnight Run, Beverly Hills Cop, Meet Joe Black, Going In Style! He’s a bonafide legend! And I’m proud to say a friend!
