On June 14th, The Texas Railfan and I were on our way out to Elgin for non-railfanning-related reasons. On our way, though, we happened to see the Austin Western 112? job leading a strange midday rock train through Manor! This is incredibly rare, so we wasted no time exiting the freeway and coming into town to catch it. Here we see an amazing lashup, with a GP35E leading two SD60s and two SD40-2s! The GP35E, an ex-SP unit, has a strange new-cast P3 horn that almost sounds like a B-Flat Major chord as opposed to an A Major.

This crossing is pretty cool too. Not sure which of AWRR's predecessors installed it, but I would not be surprised to learn if it was the Austin Area Terminal Railroad or even the Longhorn Railroad. The signals have Safetran bases. Also, each signal has two pairs of WCH 12x20 inch and one pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, all with Safetran Fading LEDs. Finally, there are two electronic bells. The far side one is a General Signals Type 3, replacing a General Signals Type 1 at some point. The near side one is a Safetran Type 2 installed by CapMetro between 2007 and 2009.

I also had to stop my camera during the middle of the train. Since I was not planning on railfanning, the battery was nearly dead.
