There is an abandoned railway between Torisawa Station and Saruhashi Station on the Chuo Main Line that connects Tokyo and Nagoya in Japan.
Old tunnels and bridges remain in the abandoned section.

This section opened on October 1, 1902.
There is a river terrace formed by the Katsura River between Torisawa Station and Saruhashi Station, resulting in a deep valley.
With the technology at the time, it was difficult to construct a route that linearly connected Torisawa Station and Saruhashi Station.
Therefore, the railroad was constructed along the national highway (Koshu Kaido) on the north bank of the Katsura River.

On September 20, 1968, the Shin-Katsuragawa Bridge and the Saruhashi Tunnel that linearly connected Torisawa Station and Saruhashi Station were opened, so the route on the north bank of the Katsura River was abolished.
