We review the 2025 Volvo XC90. As its three-row SUV competitors emphasize increasing levels of speed and horsepower and home theater-sized touchscreens, the 2025 Volvo XC90 stealthily stands out with a luxurious cabin, cutting-edge safety technologies, and attractive appearance. Although it lacks the showiness of rivals like the Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, the Volvo's cabin is just as sumptuous, roomy, and luxurious. If you're comfortable with the Android user interface, a Google-based infotainment system makes choosing and navigating media a breeze. Compared to its sportier siblings, the XC90's two engines fall short in terms of power, however the 295-horsepower upgrade stands out. On the other hand, you get much better gas mileage. Compared to its rivals, the XC90's fuel efficiency—up to 24 mpg when combining city and highway driving—is quite remarkable. Also, a Plug-In Hybrid version is available (and has its own review) that can get up to 58 MPGe. In contrast to most other SUVs, this one comes standard with all-wheel drive. It is expected that the gas-powered XC90 will undergo modest adjustments as Volvo moves to an electric lineup. The top-tier Ultimate trim is now called Ultra. Core, Plus, and Ultra are the three trim options available for the 2025 Volvo XC90. There is a distinct analysis of the Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid. Every model in the portfolio has all-wheel drive. We recommend the Core above the Plus, which is a popular option among XC90 buyers. The standard Core, which includes the destination fee and costs $58,695 (not including taxes), comes with what Volvo calls the B5 turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. There is a more powerful version (B6) with a supercharger that you can get for a little more money. As standard equipment, you'll get 19-inch wheels, a moonroof, faux-leather upholstery, automated climate control with four zones, a 9-inch interface, navigation, and wireless charging. Adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist is one of the many driver-assist systems that come standard.
