The best defense is a hyper aggressive offense! Buzzsaw is about chaining offensive techniques together, without pause, until you can either capitalize on a mistake your opponent makes or finally land a solid move. Cardio is a requirement, but as someone who takes their BJJ seriously, limiting your technique instead of just working on your cardio sounds very silly.
