In this video, I provide an update on the new Chalmers Street Entrance to Sydney's Central Station that is part of the Sydney Metro Project.

I'll explain how its progressed since my last Central Station update video that covered this entrance. Link to this video here -    • Sydney Central Station Upgrade | Cent...

The new Chalmers Street Station entrance was due to open on Monday 29th May, but a major fire within the former RC Henderson Hat Factory Building that is between Randle Street and Randle Lane, caused some damage to this new station entrance.

This fire happened in the afternoon of Thursday 25th May, and this video includes some footage of the fire itself courtesy of ABC news and Fire and Rescue NSW.

I've included footage in the aftermath of this fire, so you can see the effect it had on the new Chalmers Street Station entrance, but also on the RC Henderson Hat Factory Building and former Ding Dong Dang Karaoke building that was savaged by this fire.

You'll also see footage of the Chalmers Street lower concourse from within Central Station. I'll reveal the escalators, lifts and opal ticket gates. And although the Chalmers Street entrance didn't open as planned on 29th May, a new toilet block nearby did open!

Accuracy
I do my best to make the commentary in these videos as accurate as possible by checking facts on the internet and other sources. However, sometimes the information isn't available, so I'll use my railway knowledge and insight to explain something to the best of my ability. If accuracy is important, do check the comments, as other viewers will often pick up on things I've missed or any mistakes made. Also note that for older videos, things may change over time, causing some of the information to become out of date.

Construction Sites, Maintenance Facilities and other Private Property
All footage of construction sites, maintenance facilities and other private property is taken from a public vantage point. The only exception is if it's an open day or I have special permission to access the site. The iPhone's small lens and zoom function makes it easier to film through small gaps in hoardings or fencing, so it may look like I'm on site when I'm not! If you would like to know the exact filming location, then ask me in the comments.
