The original version of Space was released on Prince’s album Come. Later it was released as the album’s second single, in North America and Japan. An earlier version of Space was also included in the 1993 Glam Slam Ulysses stage-show, during the segment titled “The Sirens.”

With Prince input, the released version (and some remixes) contain repeated vocal samples from Poet 99/Ninety-9’s track “40 Ounces.”
