On February 8, 2020, Pete Lerro of Lerro Productions, the NCRY Steam Department and Roots of Motive Power put together a charter of steam-powered freight trains in Niles Canyon. The charter trains were Clover Valley #4 with a freight train, Skookum with a log train and SP #1195 with the SP Articulated Coach pulling the participants around the canyon. The Mallets were also turned at the Niles Wye to face west in the afternoon which made the charter even more special.

It was an awesome day taking photos and filming these two Mallets as they worked hard with stack talks and performed many spectacular runbys. The charter came to a close with a night photo session at Sunol with Clover Valley #4 and a full moon in the sky. The charter was a big success and I would like to thank Pete Lerro, the NCRY Steam Department and Roots of Motive Power for all their efforts in making the Lerro charter possible.
