Street closure in Lima delays works on line 2 | Cuarto Poder | Peru
The usual vehicular chaos in the center of Lima has taken a slight summer vacation. Not only because of the reduction in transport units, but because, for the moment, the intersection of Garcilaso de la Vega (formerly Wilson) and 9 de December (former Paseo Colón) will not be closed. In that busy area of ​​the capital, construction of the Central Station of Line 2 of the Lima Metro will begin.

This station, also called Station 13, will connect underground with the Metropolitano Central Station. This important work had been planned in advance; However, when it seemed that everything was ready for its start-up, the mayor of Lima, Rafael López Aliaga, started the controversy by questioning the way in which the underground structure will be built.

In statements to Cuarto Poder, the general manager of the construction consortium debunks several of the questions of the municipal authority and offers alternatives so that the closure of roads in Cercado de Lima lasts the shortest possible time. The Ministry of Transportation has called a high-level meeting to address the problem because, for now, without authorization from the metropolitan commune of Lima, excavation cannot begin.
