A council member for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians has been recognized for her work. Yellowhammer News honors Sandy Hollinger for her unwavering commitment to her tribe. ICT Senior Producer Shirley Sneve has more.

Language revitalization is a priority for many tribes across Turtle Island. It's what ties them to their sense of place and identity. Almost 10 million people identify as American Indian or Alaska Native, but only a 250,000 speak their Indigenous language. Today we turn to Academy Award nominee Lily Gladstone for a peek at her journey to better understand her Blackfeet language.

In New Mexico, lawmakers just finished their 30-day legislative session. The state is home to 23 Native nations--including 19 pueblos, the Navajo Nation as well as the Jicarilla, and Mescalero Apache nations. Shaun Griswold, the editor of Source New Mexico, sums up the wins and losses Native communities had at the legislature.
