Hello everyone! This time I have restored an Optimus No1 camping stove. This stove is manufactured by the Swedish company Optimus and through my research I have matched this model to the one manufactured in 1920-1924 making it 100 Years Old!!

I went to a garage sale in winter and found this tucked away in the corner. I am very happy to have found it and think it looks great after being restored!

Restoration Process:
I dismantled all parts, found a crack on the leg solder, attempted to re-melt the solder and the leg fell off. I bathed everything in degreaser to clean the parts and dissolve the calcium residue that was present in the tank. I ground off the remaining solder and had my friend re-solder the leg on. I used a combination of wire wheels and buffing wheels to clean and polish all the brass parts. I then reassembled the stove using a new seal kit and tested it by cooking myself a tasty breakfast!
(I decided not to restore the black flame shield that you see at the start of the video as it was a primus made one not optimus)

Thanks to my friend over at Torphichen Forge for re-soldering the leg for me!
Please check out his Etsy and Instagram he has some really cool stuff!
