Gnome Omega rotary engine, stand mounted for display, started and run by the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
This is an actual rotary where the propeller and cylinders rotate as a unit around the pistons. While common in WW I aircraft, it is a difficult engine to fly and messy, so almost all period replicas are fitted with radial engines instead.
