I've been wanting to upgrade this bass for a few years. It's a 2008-ish? Fender made-in-Mexico Deluxe P/J 4-string that I found at a pawn shop a few years back. It came with Fender noiseless pickups and an active EQ. I've never really liked the pickups and didn't use the onboard electronics other than the volume control so I've been wanting to upgrade it for a while. A friend of mine threw a set of EMG active Jazz bass pickups in one of his builds and I was a fan of the sound so I decided to try out the EMG P/J pickup set. I switched the bridge to a Hipshot Kickass High-Mass bridge and the strings to a set of Thomastik Infeld Jazz Bass flatwounds. If you're thinking about upgrading your bass, here's what mine sounds like now.
