On September 14, the Muslim community of Sonapur Kachutali in Assam's Kamrup (Metro) district held a protest advocating for the protection of tribal belts and blocked areas, calling for the eviction of illegal migrants who have unlawfully occupied government land. They urged the state government to safeguard the indigenous population of the region. The local Muslims also expressed their support for the government's eviction drive targeting illegal migrants.
Additionally, the residents accused certain Congress leaders of bringing in a large number of illegal migrants for vote-bank politics, settling them on government land within the Sonapur tribal belt and block areas.
