Shiny surfaces can be a huge pain to paint! Plastic, glass, laminate, porcelain and metals and some factory finishes on wood will all need a bonding primer. But sometimes you can get away with a light scuff sand on wood. If it feels like plastic, use a bonding primer. If you can rough up the substrate, using a 220 grit sandpaper, then that will work too!
I am using all Dixie Belle products. I would have used their bonding primer, slick stick if this had been a more plastic-y surface. Instead, I used their 220 grit sanding pad. I also used the colors Rusty Nail and Driftwood from their chalk mineral paint line. Then I sealed in Satin.
