We often talk about 'provenance', 'resilience' and planting 'the right tree in the right place' when planning farm woodland, but what does that mean in practice?

This informative, practical event included a tour of Darroch Nurseries, hands-on activity and discussion on topics including:

- setting up a tree nursery
- producing native trees
- the importance of provenance and resilience
- the right tree in the right place for the right reason
- what does that look like in practice?

This was part of part of a farmer-led knowledge exchange programme, Agroecology: Strengthening Livelihoods, which we worked on with Nourish Scotland, Landworkers’ Alliance, Pasture for Life, the Nature Friendly Farming Network, Propagate and Scottish Crofting Federation.

Funding for this programme was made available through the Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund (KTIF), which is funded by the Scottish Government.
