Auguste Renoir is one of the most famous French painters. A full member of the Impressionist movement in the 1860s, he moved towards a more realistic style at the end of the 19th century. His paintings deal with simple subjects related to everyday life, which he treats in an opulent and sensual way, giving great importance to the treatment of light. Renoir painted more than four thousand pictures.
