My first mountain bike ride in Montana took me above the trees in the Bear Tooth mountains right outside of a rad little town called Red Lodge. The first section of the ride started above treeline at 9,500' & climbed from there to huge, barren plateaus where we were greeted with tight, fast, flowy single track paired with EPIC views of both Montana & Wyoming. As we dropped in off the last plateau we started descending FAST & ultimately dropped over 3,000' on a mostly fast, loose, & exposed section of trail that had me questioning myself & checking my speed regularly, the trail then leveled out & opened up as we began to hit some creek crossings which lent themselves to PERFECT dirt as we finished out our rip down the single track.
We popped out on a dirt road which took us to the highway that we rode back into Red Lodge, making for one hell of a day out on the bike! This trail is a MUST ride if you're in the area & looking for a trail that has a little bit of everything - just make sure you bring your bear spray!
Thanks for riding with me!
Stay RAD,
-Mike
