The councilman for District 1 of the National District, Ariel Gutiérrez, announced this Monday his resignation from the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), a decision that marked the end of his 19-year militancy in the political organization.

Through a letter addressed to the president of the party, Danilo Medina, and the general secretary, Charlie Mariotti, Gutiérrez expressed that his departure does not mean a total break, but a "pause" to continue his path along "other paths."

"With my heart full of mixed emotions, today I am writing to you to announce my formal resignation from the PLD. This decision, which I have thought deeply about, weighs on me and hurts me," said Gutiérrez, who held the positions of member of the Central Committee, secretary of Organization of District 1 and undersecretary of legal affairs of the PLD.

In his letter, he highlighted the sacrifice and dedication he dedicated to the party in each project and campaign, and thanked the support received during his career.

"I gave everything for this party, because I believed in its mission, in its people, and that together we could achieve a more just and equitable Dominican Republic," he said.
