This short video explains how to get an IFR clearance to depart a non-towered airport. If the airport has Class E airspace to the surface and the weather is less than basic VFR (1000 ft ceiling and 3 miles visibility), you must get a clearance, usually from an approach control, before you take off. The process isn't difficult, but it confuses many new IFR pilots who trained at airports with control towers.

Ride along for cockpit /flightdeck views as call ATC for my clearance and take off from KPWT.
