We are seeking 10-12 choir and 4 soloists who are highly proficient voluntary signers from the Deaf or hard of hearing community.

Sign Handel's Messiah

Accessible Arts is working in partnership with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and together we will present three performances of the ‘Messiah’ at the Sydney Opera House in December 2015.

A signing choir of 10-12 volunteers from the Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing community will join the choral choir to perform the ‘Messiah’.

Our Shared Vision

The vision for the project is to:

Increase the awareness of the Deaf community

Promote the use of Auslan (Australia Sign Language)

Provide music education and enable members of the Deaf and hard of hearing community to participate in the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs activities

Increase access to performances by Sydney Philharmonia Choirs for Deaf and hard of hearing audiences.

When: Thursday 25 June 2015
Time: 7pm-9pm
Venue: Sydney Philharmonia Choirs Rehearsal Rooms
Pier 4, Hickson Road, Walsh Bay, Sydney 2000

Rehearsals:

10 x 2 hour rehearsals between August to November, dates will be announced at the information night.

Final rehearsals 3 x 3 hours – which are compulsory to take part:

Sunday 29 November 2015: 2pm – 5pm – venue TBC
Tuesday 1 December 2015: 7pm – 10pm – Sydney Opera House Concert Hall
Wednesday 2 December 2015: 7pm – 10pm – Sydney Opera House Concert Hall

Concerts rehearsals 3 x 3hours:

Thursday 3 December 2015: Concert 8pm – Sydney Opera House Concert Hall (called from 6pm)
Friday 4 December 2015: Concert 8pm – Sydney Opera House Concert Hall (called from 6pm)
Saturday 5 December 2015: Concert 1pm – Sydney Opera House Concert Hall (called from 12.00noon)
