Climb up and observe the working of a preserved Signal Box on the Glenbook Vintage Railway in New Zealand.

Glenbrook Station is the site for the restored former Auckland 'B' Box. The box used to stand in the former Auckland yards. Although this signal box has been preserved and in place for many years, it only became operational again in 2012.

This video was made during the 'Steam & Vintage Country Festival 2017, a festival held every four years which is a collaboration between the GVR and the Franklin Vintage Machinery Club

The GVR is based on part of the old Waiuku branch line which opened in 1922 and closed from Glenbrook to Waiuku in 1967.

The Railway Enthusiast Society opened the first portion of the restored vintage railway between Glenbrook and Pukeoware in 1977. An extension was completed to Fernleigh in 1986, and the latest extension to Victoria Avenue in Waiuku was opened in 2010.

The 7.4 km (4.6 M) long heritage railway carries up to 30,000 passengers during its normal operating season, which is from October to June.
