The shocking deaths of an Alberta mom and her 16-month-old toddler have unravelled a family’s faith in the justice system and spurred them to push for reformation.

Mchale Busch, Cody-Lee McConnell and their son Noah had moved to the western Alberta town of Hinton less than two weeks before the pair vanished. The man accused of their deaths shared a wall with the young family’s apartment and was a convicted sex offender.

In a one-on-one interview with Global News, Cody McConnell shared memories of his fiancée and their 16-month-old son. McConnell explains what took the family to Hinton in western Alberta, the day the family disappeared and the aftermath of their deaths.

McConnell also spoke about the family's proposed Noah's Law, which would mean a registered sex offender would be required to update personal information, like their address, every month.

The family is currently drafting a petition of Noah’s Law to send to the House of Commons.
