Tejo is an ancestral sport that was practiced by the Muisca people, the culture that inhabited the Andean region of Bogota, Cundinamarca and Boyaca more than 500 years ago. Its original purpose remains uncertain. Some anthropologists believe that it was a ritual of sacred offering, others that it was a way of solving disputes and even some believe that it was a mating activity. Truth is it's rooted in an indigenous tradition that survived even after the arrival of the spaniard conquistadors. The sport of tejo resisted and survived via oral tradition. This story of survival consecrated the sport of tejo as a cultural heritage of Colombia, and, as such, it was elevated to the status of national sport.

"Tejo" is the name of the metallic stone that is thrown into the clay. Besides these two materials, there is a very important magical triangle called "mecha", it holds some gunpowder that explodes when hit with the "tejo", and it gives the game its characteristic sound and aroma. Believe us, there is nothing as exciting as hiting the "mecha" and shouting "Mecha hiju3p*t4!". Underneath those magical triangles there is a metallic ring called "bocín", those who hit inside its perimeter earn a high score:

⭕ "Bocín": 6 points
💥⭕ "Moñona": 9 points
✋ "Mano": 1 point (the "tejo" that is closer to the "bocín" earns the score in case there wasn't any of the previous scores)
🏆 The team that earns first 27 points wins.
