Colon cancer is a serious concern in the United States, ranking as the third most common cancer. Research indicates that our dietary choices play a significant role in our risk of developing colon cancer. In this video, oncology dietitian Savannah Duffy delves into foods that can impact the health of our colon and discusses ways to make healthier choices.

The American Institute of Cancer Research advises limiting red meat consumption due to its correlation with an increased risk of colon cancer. This includes pork, beef, and lamb. If you choose to eat red meat, opt for lean cuts and limit your intake to 12 to 18 ounces per week.

Alcohol is a known carcinogen, increasing the risk of colon cancer. Whether it's beer, wine, or liquor, all contain ethanol, which can lead to inflammation in the body. Limit alcohol consumption to one drink per day for women and two drinks per day for men.

Remember, your dietary habits play a crucial role in your health, including your colon health. Stay informed, make mindful choices, and prioritize your well-being. Watch the full video to learn more about protecting your colon health through diet.
