Alauddin Khilji raided Devagiri in 1296 in order to gain wealth so that he can dethrone the Delhi emperor Jalaluddin Khilji. After Usurping the king Alauddin sent Malik Kafur to Deccan in 1307 after the revolt of Devagiri prince ShankarDev, son of Ramchandra Dev.
