"This trip is really important, because any people that don't know their history, that don't know who they are & where they come from, that people will not be able to chart their course in the future or know their place in the world. They are more likely to be a cog in somebody else's machine, rather than having their own hopes and dreams and aspirations, which is what is befitting of the Ummah of Mohammed ﷺ.

"So this is an important trip, because it will facilitate an understanding of who we are and where we fit into the world as Muslims. It's an important trip, in order for us to appreciate something about the civilization of Islam, that we may not appreciate in the rat race of our daily lives, especially living as minorities in other places.

"This trip is also a great opportunity for families to get some time away, while making sure that they consume halal, make their prayers on time, and do something and have some sort of experience for themselves and for their children that will help them get through life anchored and rooted in something bigger than themselves."

The trip runs from Saturday, August 14 through Sunday, August 22.
